Oil on canvas
This painting was based on a photo of yarnell that wasn't color correct because the printer sort of ran out of ink, but I thought it could be a nice exercise to see how I could make it work. When I was pretty much done with the painting, I compared it with the good photo my friend Gloria brought, it was pretty close, not bad.
While I was painting the bushy grass at the foreground, I suddenly realized why Van Gogh painted the landscape the way he did. The world is full of texture; how else can one paint, for example, the grass, to show how the wind had worked on it? And the trees, the winding road....
